Alexia and I shot months ago, on the same day my shoot with Maria took place. The weather was moody, as even when I was taking shots of Maria earlier that day, the sky was spitting. Alexia and I decided to shoot close, and so we did some concept work and styling with the clothing in my basement, then went out to a park behind my house, venturing little further than half a block. This shoot is quite a bit different from the other shoots I’ve posted here, as most of the images were not taken in a natural setting. Also, we tried out a more “punk” look, which I rarely get to do. All that being said, I really like the results from this shoot. Let me know what you think. You can find Alexia on Model Mayhem.

These next few images of Maria will most likely be the last summer-themed portraits of the year, considering the drop of the temperature in Toronto. Nonetheless, they are definitely a strong ending to the summer season for me, photographically speaking. Maria’s charming, upbeat, and friendly personality fit the theme perfectly. Even in the images where Maria was not outright grinning, she had always just the slightest trace of a smile, making every image either warm and fun, or mysterious and compelling. You can find Maria on her Model Mayhem page.

For the first week and a half of my trip to Lebanon, I stayed with my grandparents in their house in Hamat. My grandparents live in Canada, but have a house in Lebanon where they go to visit every year. These pictures were taken the morning after I arrived in Lebanon. Having arrived late at night, this was the first chance I got to seeing the house properly. The house is made completely of stone and has huge windows that light up every room. It’s beautiful.

The following pictures are all of the garden in front of my grandfather’s house. It is tended by the people who live on the first floor (my grandparents only use the upper level), and has a wide variety of plants.

I got back home from Lebanon exactly a week ago, but I had to wait before I posted, because the first thing I wanted to share with you all is some exciting news about a photograph of mine being published. Introducing the children’s book, Cleopatra Rules! by Vicky Alvear Shecter.
The cover photograph is a self portrait I took three years ago. I was contacted over a year ago by a representative from a publishing company, asking if they could licence the photograph. Of course I said yes. We worked out the details and every so often I got another email updating me on the status of the book. While I was in Lebanon, a shipment of 10 of these books was delivered to my door in Canada. I was so excited to hold them in my hands when I got home, but I didn’t want to share the news with you all quite yet. Vicky had emailed me asking me if she could interview me about my photography and about this photograph in particular. I waited for her to post first, so I could share the interview. Read the interview here.
